Lesson 16: Jesus Christ Has the Power to Heal
Videos:
Jesus Raises the Daughter of Jairus
Chapter 24: Jairus’s Daughter is Raised from the Dead
Music:
“Faith”
The Seventh Article of Faith
Articles:
Jesus Blesses Children
Jesus Heals a Blind Man
Jesus Heals a Deaf Man
Jesus Heals the Sick
Help to Heal
Patrick and the Priesthood
Nora’s Blessing
Handouts/Activities:
1) Play the "What Am I ?" Game using the questions in the lesson.
2) Copy/paste images from this story into a Word document. Print it out. Cut out the pictures. Have the children put them in order. And have the children retell the story. You could hand out a picture to each child and say, "Ok. Who has the next part of the story," having them stand up to tell about their part. Let the other children help them with the story if necessary. It is never a good idea to put a child on the spot without offering help. Church should be a warm, friendly place, not a testing ground.
3) Make copies and read the rebus story,"Jesus Heals a Sick Man," together as a class. Perhaps you can pause at the pictures and let the children say those words.
4) The sick man in the scripture story needed help from his friends to reach Jesus.
5) Make Look, Feel, and Help glasses.
6) have them trace and cut out paper hands. Label the fingers.
Bless the sick, Father's blessing, Setting apart, Blessing of comfort, Ordinances.
7) Get ready for the priesthood.
8) Have the children draw something like a tree or face while they are blindfolded to see what it is like to be blind.
9) Read this story so you know it well enough to retell it to your class. Why could Pres. Snow raise someone from the dead? (He had the priesthood)
One sister who visited the spirit world and was recalled to mortality by President Lorenzo Snow had personal experience with what the Prophet taught....
