Handouts:
1) Use the little images in the story "Nephi Builds a Ship" to make a mini book. You can print them end to end in a Microsoft Word Document to make an accordion style flip book (Folded back and forth. Probably your easiest option). You could also print them with a white boarder and have children tie the books (traditional book style) together after you hole punch the edge. If you do this you'll have blank sides of the pages. I would use those to have the children draw pictures of how they can be obedient, faithful, and brave like Nephi was when he was keeping the Lord's commandment to build a ship.
2) Use the little images in the story "Nephi Builds a Ship to make a memory matching game. Print the images on heavy paper. I would copy/paste the images into a Microsoft Word document for this. Cut the images out after printing 2 sets. To play place the "cards" face down and take turns turning them over to see if you can find a match.
3) Make a sand diorama: Okay, this sounds messy. I'd use dry beans if I was going that route. Here's a shortcut. If you copy/paste and crop this in a Microsoft Word document you can make them stand up just by folding them. For example, If I pasted it into a Word doc once and cropped it down to just Nephi, then put him at the bottom of the page I could cut him out in a rectangle, leaving an identical space of white rectangle paper above him, so it's one strip of paper with Nephi at the bottom. After printing it on cardstock, I would fold it in half and stand it up. I've seen lessons where they tape the edges together to make a pocket for finger puppets.
4) When the Lord told Nephi to build a ship, Nephi made his own tools. Circle the tools Nephi might have made in those days, then color the pictures. The resource for this is very low pixel on LDS.org. Perhaps it would be okay to use other tool images (Maybe ones like these). If you can find them, a mobile made of tools might be fun. A class of boys might enjoy a paper tool belt.
